HUSBANDS, HONOUR YOUR FLOCKS

Spread the love

Main Text: Ezekiel 34:1-6

More Scriptures: Micah 2:12, Luke 2:8, 1Peter 5:3

There is a husband who has consistently dishonoured his wife and children. You abuse them; you kill their confidence and treat them as though they are slaves. God is saying, it is not the right thing to do, whether or not you think your action is justifiable. This is the clarion call from the Holy Ghost to a husband reading today’s devotional. And the call is that it is time for you to start to honour your wife and children. As the head of your family and the shepherd over your wife and children, you have a responsibility to give honour to your flocks. You honour them with your words, with your time, with your investment and by your conduct. But what does it mean to honour your wife and children? To honour your flocks means to treat them with dignity and respect- not talking them down before others, no matter what they may have done. You also honour your wife with your body. It is honourable to give your body to your wife rather than another woman. In First Corinthians chapter 7 and verse 5, the word of God says, defraud ye not one another…… It is fraudulent to deny your wife of sex and instead give it to another woman. It is a fraud, which is dishonest and dishonourable. Another way you can honour your flocks is by lifting them up in prayers and committing their lives and destinies into the hands of God. Wouldn’t it be your joy that your prayers for your wife and children moulded them into better people? During the time when Apostle Peter spoke rudely to Jesus Christ, Jesus never insulted him. At time in the life of Jesus, He prayed for him as well as other disciples. Honour drives you to do what is right and good. It motivates you to hold people in high esteem. However, for you to honour your flocks delightsomely, you need to take the following practical steps. One, you must have a change of perspective. The Scripture says, as a man thinks in his heart, so shall he be… This means you cannot be greater than your thought. If you think your wife is a fool, she would not get your honour. If you think that your child is a burden and a good for nothing, you will treat him or her with negligence.

Spiritual Exercise.

§  Father, give me the right perspective about my wife and children and help me to walk accordingly.

§  Father, by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, deliver me from every negative thought I hold about my wife and children.

§  Father, order my thoughts and speeches to agree with Your will for my flocks.

 Faith Confession

I renew my thoughts with Your word and I function well in my office as a good and godly husband to my flocks in Jesus glorious name. Amen.
