HUSBANDS, BREAK THE BONDAGE

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Luke 13:15-16

More Scriptures: John 10:10, Luke 10:19, Isaiah 10:27

And ought not this woman, being the daughter if Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, this eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day (Luke 13:16). Every time you hold bitterness against your wife and children, you have spiritually put them in prison and chains. When you refuse to forgive your wife and children when they offend you, you have kept them in bondage. That is why as much as you try to pray, you find it difficult to. In fact your freedom is limited. Your flock becomes like the woman in bondage in our main text today. She had been in that condition for eighteen years, until Jesus set her free. You have the mind of Christ in you and as He is the husband to the church so you are to your flock. Therefore, are you the husband to your wife and children?  This is why today’s topic is instructional to every husband to learn to forgive his wife and children, truthfully, cheerfully and lovingly. Someone who is bound cannot be free. His or her freedom is limited. The same way there is a limit to which your wife or child can relate with you when you are bitter towards them. It shows in so many ways-they way you talk, the countenance on your face and your response to what they say to you. Jesus Christ, the example of how husbands are to behave, came to set people free from their bondages. He didn’t come to make captives of men. It is in the same light also that you have been sent by God to your wife and children to make them free. Let me ask you this question and I want you to be sincere with your answer. Whenever you hold bitterness and grudge against your wife or children, do you feel light or heavy within youAre you free with them in that circumstance of bondage? Do you feel free? When you hold your flock in bondage of unforgiveness, whether you are a pastor, founder of ministry, rich or poor, educated or not, leader or ordinary member of your local church, you are an agent of the devil. In our main text today, the Scripture says Satan hath bound…. In John 10: 10, the word of God says, Satan has come to steal, kill and destroy. Loose your flock by forgiving them and give Satan no chance to steal, kill and destroy your relationship with your wife and children.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE:

  • Father, deliver me from the power of malice and keeping grudge against my wife and children.

  • Father, empower me by Your Spirit to be quick to forgive my wife and children.

  • Father, grant me a greater measure of Your grace to be like You to my flock.

FAITH CONFESSION:

set my flock free from every bondage of unforgiveness I may have held them in and I declare them free totally because I long to be a good and godly husband to them in Jesus name. Amen.
