I am happy that God made me a husband. I couldn’t have asked for anything less. I do not wish to become anything other than a husband. And I want you to also celebrate your position as a husband. Now what is unique about your position as a husband? What is so honourable about being a husband? First, as a husband, you assume the role of a Christ in your home. How? The Scripture says, husband love thy wife as Christ as love the church (Eph.5:23). You can’t be a husband without a wife. So when you are a husband, you assume the role Christ played and is still playing to the bride-church. Whatever Christ is to the church is what you should be to your wife. And every honour that follows Jesus Christ is bound to follow you. Secondly as a husband, you have the rare privilege of sowing seeds and watching the seeds become like what they were intended to be. God’s word says, fathers, nurture your children in the way of the Lord (Eph.6:4). There is no better way for you to reproduce after your kind like being a father.
There is no better way to impact your children positively like raising them up in the home environment as a father. Thirdly, being a husband provides you a great opportunity to recreate the destinies of your family heritage, thereby giving them a name and fame on the earth. A lot of husbands are going through tough challenges in life-career, business, academics, finances, and in many more areas- because of the wrong foundation laid by the forefathers. But being a husband means you are starting a new family, hence a better platform for you to lay good and godly foundations for your wife and children. Do you know that you may not have the opportunity to mount the pulpit to preach, but you can actually share with your wife and children those wonderful experiences you have? I want you to know that you are not just a statistic. You are an instrument in the hand of God to bless your wife and children (Gen.12:3). God appreciated the importance of your position as a husband so He made you in His image and likeness and gave you a wife and family to watch over and keep (Gen.1:26, Gen.2:18). Do not trade your headship for anything. Do not see yourself as less a husband than others. Do not think you would have been better off if you were not a husband. It is an honour to be a husband.
· Father, by Your Spirit, help me to appreciate my position as a husband.
· Father, by Your Spirit, empower me to be focused on my assignment as a husband.
· Father, by Your Spirit, empower me to aspire for greater roles and responsibilities as a husband.
I celebrate my position as a husband because it is my greatest platform to serve my wife and children as Christ would in Jesus name. Amen.
