The Husband’s Pitfalls

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Ecc.5:2-7

More Scriptures: Ps.50:23, Eph.4:22, Lk.6:37

I want to share with you some of the pitfalls that you must avoid if you want to reign as a good and godly husband. As the head of the family, ignorance will not make you a better husband. Yes, you are bound to make mistakes. It is normal. But it is maturity if you accept your mistake and move forward. This is why our main scripture is very relevant. Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear than to give the sacrifice of fools, for they consider not that they do evil. Be not rash with thy mouth and let not thine heart be hasty to utter anything before God, for God is in heaven and thou upon earth, therefore let thy words be few. For a drem cometh through the multitude of business and a fool’s voice is known by multitude of words. When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it, for he hath no pleasure in fools, pay that which thou hast vowed. Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin, neither say thou before the angle, that is was an error, wherefore should God be angry at thy voice and destroy the work of thine hands? (Ecc.5:1-6). From these verses of Scriptures, I want to explain three areas of your life that you must work on to avoid being seen by your flock as a failed husband.

Firstly, it is your speech. As the leader and mentor of your flock, you must learn not to be hasty with your speech. This means you must learn to be slow to speak and quick to hear. It also demands that you weigh your words before you utter them either to your wife or children. It doesn’t matter what your flock may have done to you in the negative, you must guard and guide what comes out of your mouth. Secondly, you must be very careful not to make empty promises to God, your wife, children or even others. You must not promise what you cannot deliver. You must walk toward ensuring that you are bounded by your promises. So if you promise to love your wife and nurture your children, ensure that you deliver on it. Thirdly, it is in the area of accepting the mistakes of your family fold. Remember that you are the head of your family and the shepherd of your. Your influence diminishes when you give lame excuses for your failures.

·         Father, by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, deliver me from every pitfalls

·         Father, through Your Spirit, lead me away from every pitfalls and plant my feet on solid rock.

·         Father, by Your mercy, teach me how to reign as a good and godly husband.

I overcome every pitfall by the help of God as I work and walk to become a good and godly husband to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
