Main Scriptures: Ps.104:22-23
More Scriptures: 1Tim.5:8, Jn.5:17, 1Thess.4:11
The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens. Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until evening (Ps.14:2-23). It was during my study time that the Holy Spirit opened my eyes to see the dignity of work. He also helped me to understand that as a husband and father, I must not return home until evening. I must go about my work, that is, go to my work. As a husband and the shepherd over God’s flock, the cure to your lack is work. The only way to escape the temptation of depending on your wife for your needs-clothing, shelter, feeding, and transportation- is to leave the house to work. It is a dishonor on your part for your wife to be responsible for the financial and material administration of your family kingdom. It is a shame for you as a husband and leader to hide under the cover of half truth that you and your wife are now one. If it was so, why did the Scripture say in 1 Tim.5 that any husband who cannot provide for his household is worse than an infidel? (1Tim.5:8) Jesus Christ, Who is your perfect example of a husband, was a worker. He was not only diligent; He also provided all that His disciples needed. They did not lack anything. See what the word of God says in 1Thess. 4. And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you. That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without and that ye may have lack for nothing (1Thess.4:11-12).
Abraham worked and earned his place in destiny as a rich and blessed husband (Gen.13:2, Gen.24:1). Job was a worker and became one of the richest people in his time (Job 1:1-3). Isaac, the husband of Rebekah worked and became so rich that an entire nation envied him (Gen.26:1-13). Wake up, husband! Wake up! The car you drive which you did not buy or own is not your resting place. The house you live in which your wife is the person who pays the bill is not your resting place. And if you have a son, who will become a potential father and shepherd, you have begun to distort his perception of who a good shepherd should be. You are too honourable to depend on your wife for your needs. Wake up!
· Father, by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, open my inner eyes to see the work I could engage in to be responsible and make profit.
· Father, by the blood of Jesus Christ, deliver me from every root of deception and half truths.
· Father, by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, deliver me from every generational distortions.
FAITH CONFESSION: I will work diligently, committedly and faithfully to provide for my family and others because that is why my honour lies as a good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
