The Law Of Connection

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Jn.4:1-26

More Scriptures: Jn.10:15, Matt.11:29, Rom.14:16

Our main text today is a rather long one. But it is one Scripture that provides husbands with the foundation to connect and reconnect with the members of their flock. And that is what I call the law of connection. As a husband and the spiritual leader of your flock, how connected are you to your wife and children, spiritually, mentally emotionally and physically? The main character in our main text is the Samaritan woman. This woman had so many odds against her. She was not a Jew. She was also an imperfect woman-living in adultery and changing men up to five times. But Jesus Christ, the perfect example of how husbands are ordained to behave broke the rule. He connected with the imperfect woman.

The result was that she did not only change from a bad and neglected woman to a new woman in Christ, she also changed the entire city. She took the song of freedom and revival to the city. That is what happened when you reconnect to your wife and children even when there are enough reasons to do otherwise. But for you to effectively connect to your flock, you must first initiate the contact (Jn.4:1-7). Be the first person to break the ice if your flock seems not to be forthcoming. What I mean here is this. Start the discussion. That is what Jesus did. Secondly, listen to them and allow them to speak. Don’t  try to be defensive. In verse 9, the woman said, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink? For Jews do not associate with Samaritans. Thirdly, establish a common ground for you and your sheep. Begin with them on areas where both of you share common interest. Finally, communicate with your flock on the main issue directly and simply. Jesus did not deviate from the fact that He wanted the unfit woman to be thirsty for righteousness. So even when she tried to tell Him how improper it was for Him to have a conversation with her and how miserable she had been with several men, Jesus remained steadfast on the issues. However, you must depend on the help of the Holy Spirit to carry out these demands. And as you faithfully and prayerfully reconnect to your wife and children, they will sing your praises on the streets and shout your benevolence to high heavens.

·         Father, by Your blood, restore my flock back to me.

·         Father, empower me with Your wisdom to reconnect with the totality of my sheep.

·         Father, break the self will in me and fill me with grace and humility to take the first step.

I embrace the demands of reconnecting to my sheep because I am committed to be a good and godly husband to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
