Main Scriptures: Jn.6:3-14
More Scriptures: Lk.6:40, Matt.5:14, 1Jn.1:7
Today, I want to share with you the wonderful blessings of the law of addition. The law states that when we add value by serving others, it keeps adding to those under us. As the head of your family and the spiritual leader over your wife and children, it is very important to understand that you are created to add value to your flock. Jesus Christ, the Perfect example of how husbands are ordained to behave, added value to the lives of his followers. Now if you agree that your wife and children are your followers, have you added value to their lives? If you read the account in Jn.6, you will observe that Jesus did not only multiply two fish and five loaves of bread to feed 5,000 men, excluding wives and children, He also engaged His disciples to participate in serving. God’s will is that your flock will be like you. In Lk.6:40, the Scripture says a disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher. When you train your flock, you are actually serving them. And it is through this that you can recreate yourself in their lives.
But for you to add value to your wife and children, you must position yourself in the following ways. Firstly, you must do the work and not wait for your wife, relations or family members, pastor or even bishop. In Acts 6:4, the word of God says but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word. You can’t give what you don’t have. If you want to add the virtue of prayer and the word to the lives of your flock, you must work out your prayer and word study life with fear and trembling. Secondly, you must be a light and walk in the light. According to Matt.5:14, ye are the salt of the earth. So if you want your flock to be salt to their environment, family and the market places of life, be light and walk in the light. The third demand on your part is the demand to be a teacher. Every leader, I mean every true and trans-generational leader is a teacher. In 1Tim.3:2, the Scripture gives the minimal qualification of an overseer. And you are one. It says,………… the husband of one wife…. able to TEACH. God wants you to be a plus. Please make it count loudest in the lives of your flock.
· Father, fill me with the Spirit of grace and humility to work out what is right.
· Father, deliver me from the power of self deceit.
· Father, make me a shining example to my wife and children.
I give my life for the service of my wife and children because I am committed to be a good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
