Finally, my brethren, REJOICE IN THE LORD. This is the admonition to a husband reading this devotional today. The Person of the Holy Spirit is saying don’t give up, notwithstanding what you are going through. He wants you to rejoice and be glad. As the head of your family, it is true that you may not avoid challenges coming your way. It is also true that events that may challenge your position would show up. However, one thing you must never do is to fold your arms and watch or lift your hands up in defeat. But what does it mean to rejoice in the Lord? First, it means to consider that God loves you so much to allow you die in that bad situation. Secondly, it means to consider God faithful. Thirdly, it means to see through the eyes of faith that all things, including the unpleasant situations, are working together for your good. I can tell you several times where the joy of the Lord was my strength in the face of threats and challenges. As a minister of the gospel, many obstacles presented themselves trying hard to destroy my faith and hope in God and His promises. But I held onto the truth of God’s word. And as long as I rejoiced in the Lord, I became strengthened in my spirit to go through it and with victory in my hands.
However, for you to be able to rejoice in the Lord, you must see your challenges as common. In 1Cor.10:13, the Scripture says, no temptation has overtaken you except such as is COMMON TO MAN but God is faithful , who will not allow to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also MAKE A WAY OF ESCAPE that you may be able to bear it. Over the years and repeatedly, I have told my wife that I am yet to see what God has not done. She did not understand what I meant until recently. When you commonize the challenge, it gives you clarity of vision to discover solutions. You also need to declare what you want and not what the circumstance is presenting to you (Rom.10:10). The Word of God also says declare thou that thou might be justified. Yes, it is true that the responsibilities are enormous but remember that YOU’RE MORE THAN A CONQUEROR THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS YOU.
· Father, by Your Spirit, fill my heart with the Spirit of joy and gladness.
· Father, by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, destroy every garment of heaviness.
· Father, let the joy of the Lord be my strength all the days of my life.
I will rejoice in the Lord always and in all things because it is my heritage to becoming a good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
