Change Begins With You

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Acts 4:9

More Scriptures: Ps.26:2, 1Cor.11:28, 2Cor.13:5

If you are in Nigeria, you would be familiar with this slogan. The Federal Government launched a social revamp programme toward building the right attitude for Nigerians. The objective is to make Nigerians take personal responsibility for the change they want to see in Nigeria. And the Person of the Holy Spirit, inspires this in my heart and began to teach me its significance to husbands. As the head of your family and spiritual leader over your wife and children, you must come to terms with the truth that every change you want to see in the lives of your flock begins with a change in you. It is not enough to complain that your wife and children do not respect you and give you the honour that is due. As the one who has been mandated by God to lead your flock, you have the responsibility to transmit the changes from you to your wife. You must also understand that you are a seed-bearing agent and your wife and children are the grounds on which to sow the seed. In Matt.5:16, the Scripture says let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Until God’s light shines abundantly in you, you cannot reflect it to others.

The ultimate of being the head in your family kingdom is to shine forth the light of Jesus in truth and in deed to those around you so that they may glorify God. So, how do I begin to change myself to change my wife and children? Firstly, you must feed on the word of God richly. The Bible encourages us to allow the word of God to dwell in us richly. The more of His word that you allow to effect the changes in you, the more transformation your flock see in you. Secondly, you must run with the word that you have allowed into your life by doing what it says you should do. Yes, you have prayed the word into your life. Yes, you have believed that the word works. You have believed that the word can change anybody. Now, you must put what you have read and heard into practice. The word of God describes Paul the Apostle as a man who exercised himself unto godliness. Thirdly, you must engage the help of the Holy Spirit to deliver on God’s expectation for you. The Holy Spirit, is the third Person of the Godhead. He empowers you both to hear and do.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

·         Father, by Your Spirit, empower me to feed richly on Your word.

·         Father, by Your Spirit, let the Spirit behind Your word, come alive in me.

·         Father, by Your Spirt, empower me to practice everything You teach me from Your word.

FAITH CONFESSION

I read and receive the word of God and run with it because that is what makes me a good and godly husband to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
