Main Scriptures: Is.41:10-21
More Scriptures: Rom.10:10, 2Pet.2:6, Jn.3:5
In the early hours of Wednesday, the 12th of April, 2017, I was watching a Christian programme. Suddenly, the topic for today flashed through the screen and immediately my Teacher, the Person of the Holy Spirit, said to me, “Tell a husband that IT IS FINISHED with every stagnation”. I believe that this assurance is for a husband reading this devotional today. Jesus went to the Cross for you and when the chapter of the pain and agony would be closed, He said, “IT IS FINISHED”. The price for you to enjoy your wife and children and live a fulfilled life as a husband has been paid for by Jesus, the perfect example of a good and godly husband. It is finished with every root of bitterness and unforgiveness you may have with your flock or any other person. It is finished with envy and distrust you have against your flock. The death of Jesus, the Head of the husbandman, is to restore excellence to your relationships, family life, finances, character and attitude.
But for you to enjoy the fullness of the finished work of Jesus as a husband, shepherd, priest, prophet and pastor, you must have a relationship with Him. In Jn.3:5, the word of God tells us that except a man is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Having Jesus in you is what activates your access to the power that would make you reign in life as a good and godly husband. Secondly, you must be willing and committed to accept the demands of your headship. That is, as the head, you are representing Jesus in your family kingdom. So, whatever Jesus did and lived for is what must reflect in your life for your wife and children and the world to see. Once you accept this fact wholly and truthfully, you will not hold back any good things from them. You will also work to build and leave behind a good name. The Scripture tells us that a good name is better than a silver or gold….. Thirdly, you must continue to declare God’s plan for the lives of your flock irrespective of what is happening in and around you. In Rom.10:10, the word of God tells us that with with the heart man believeth and with thy mouth confession is made unto salvation. According to 2Pet.2:6, you are described as a labourer. And as a labourer, who is diligent in his work, your wife will sing of your praises to the high heavens, and your children shall praise you continually. It is a great honour to be a man, husband and father at the same time. Being the husbandman is the highest office you could ever occupy because it is the best platform for you to become a trans-generational agent of blessings
· Father, by the blood of Jesus deliver me from ungodly relationships and associations.
· Father, by Your Spirit, order my conversation aright and let it please You always.
· Father, in the name of Jesus, help me to speak the truth from an inward heart.
I live with the understanding of the finished work of Jesus because that is what empowers me to become a good and godly husband to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
