Scripture: Mark 14:38
More scriptures: Rom 7:23, Gal. 5:17, Ezk.34:5
The diseased have ye not strengthened, neither have ye healed that which was sick, neither have ye bound up that which was broken, neither have ye brought again that which was driven away, neither have ye sought that which was lost, but with force and with cruelty have ye ruled them. And they were scattered because there is no shepherd and they became meat to all the beasts of the field, when they were scattered. My sheep wandered through all the mountains and upon every high hill, yea, my flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth, and none did search or seek after them. Therefore, ye shepherds, hear the word of the Lord (Ezk.34:4-7). This is the admonition of Jesus, our Groom to everyone one including you, a husband reading this devotional today. Anytime you don’t watch and pray, you will be consumed by the tricks and plan of the enemy. A prayerless husband is a powerless husband. He can be carried away by any wind. As the head of the family, you have your wife and children to watch over.
As a watch man, God expects you to pray and at the same time be vigilant to watch over the things that you have prayed for. If you have prayed for a good, peaceful and harmonious relationship with your wife, wisdom demands that you open wide your eyes to see opportunities that will help you to fulfill your own part. If you have prayed for a good and submissive wife, watch to see how you do those things God has commanded you to do to activate submission. Have you prayed for your children to be great? Then watch for opportunities that will project their greatness. Being watchful and prayerful help you to train and empower your spirit man and also destroys every weakness. Husbands, please don’t pray and close your eyes. God gave you eyes to see and a head to think. Your ability to watch is what is called faith. If you have prayed not to visit the strange woman, watch to see that you don’t get around what concerns the strange woman. Have you prayed for financial lifting in your family, life and ministry? Open wide your eyes to see godly opportunities that you can take advantage of to give you financial substance. God has heard your prayer. He understands how you feel and what you’re going through. But you have a responsibility to watch out for His answers. This requires that you become spiritually sensitive. So, when next you pray, ask God to help you to be sensitive to opportunities.
• Father, in the name of Jesus, empower me to watch over my flock as You would.
• Father, in the name of Jesus, deliver me from every force of spiritual complacency.
• Father, in the name of Jesus, empower me to lead my flock in the way of godliness.
I keep watch over my wife and children and my expectations from God because they all make me to function as a good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
