Main Scripture: 1John 3:7-8
More Scriptures: Lk.10:23, Matt.5:16, Jer.1:10
He that committeth sin is of the devil, for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose was the Son of manifested that He might destroy the works of the devil (1Jn.3:8). The above Scripture explains the bigger picture of why Jesus died for sinners. And I took a quote from a man of God who said, “if you know you why, your what will have an impact and meaning, because your why gives value to your what”. As a husband and the head of your family, the starting point of making the most of your leadership is to define why God made you the head. Why did God decide to call YOU the head of your wife and the leader in the home front? Until you are able to answer the question “why”, you may not make any meaningful difference in the lives of your wife and children and the society at large. The Bible provides you answers to your origin as a husband. In Gen.1:26-28, the Scripture says, so God created man in his own image, in the image of God created them male and female created he them. From this point onward, God enjoyed fellowship with you until He saw a need for you to enter into a higher dimension of friendship. So, He said, it is not good for man to be alone, I will make for him a helpmeet. Now, what does this tell you? It simply means that beyond your call that you are a husband, you are created in the image and likeness of God to reflect His glory in everything that you do, beginning with your family. Whatever He tells you to do from His word as a husband is and will continue to be your delight. Secondly, it also means that every instruction that you will ever need to succeed as a husband and become a husband indeed is with God. That is, you must develop an ever growing and deepening relationship with Him.
As you seek to know Him and abide in Him, He reveals to you steps to take to deal with your wife according to knowledge and nurture your children in the way and admonition of the Lord (1Pet.3:7, Eph.6:4). Moreover, far beyond being called a husband, you are accountable to God. He is your head the same way you are the head of your family. You are also responsible to your wife and children. You are to provide for their needs. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Noah, David, Solomon, Cornelius, Jesus, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, Bishop David Oyedepo are all examples of husbands who took absolute responsibility to provide for their household. They didn’t live off their parents nor depend on their wives for provision, and any husband who does this is not just irresponsible but he has lost the authority to be called a husband and father. Beyond the call, you are a god; make it count positively in the lives of your wife and children.
· Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live beyond being called a husband.
· Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live my full potential as a godly husband.
· Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to be steadfast in honouring You as a husband.
I live beyond the title of being called a husband but engage in the covenant demands that define my office because that is where my true values reside as a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
