Spread the love

Main Scriptures: 1Cor.13:4-8

More Scriptures: Ps.23:1, Jn.10:10, Matt.14:14

Sometimes, I am amazed at the ways the Person of the Holy Spirit communicates His mind to us. And I am humbled and deeply grateful that He always teaches me. In a typical hospital setting, there are various departments. And a dispensary is one of them. The dispensary is where you get the drugs that the doctors may have prescribed to you. It is very important to the patient. In the same, you are like the dispensary store in the hospital. You have the required drugs to handle the sickness or disease that your sheep have been diagnosed with. And it is expected that your storehouse must be filled with valid medications.

So, what kind of drugs should be found in your dispensary that your flock will always need? The word of God gives the answer.

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance (1Cor.13:4-7) NLT

As the head of your family and leader in your home, the above drugs are the kind that God wants you to have available in your dispensary. That is what He meant when He commanded you to love your wife as Christ as loved the church. Patience, humility, selflessness, fairness and equity, truthfulness, hope, faith and endurance. You must also understand that a dispensary does not dispense fake or expired medications. All the attributes of love are constant and valid. Your flock needs them. Can your wife and children find abundant patience with you? Can they be treated with a large dose of hope and faith, when the lines begin to crumble around them? Fill your dispensary with all the medicines of love and give it to them abundantly. They are better-off with your love.

·         Father, in the name of Jesus, empower me to love my flock as You have loved the Church.

·         Father, in the name of Jesus, save me from every root of discouragement and hopelessness.

·         Father, in the name of Jesus, infuse in me the power and spirit of faith to love my flock.

I dispense the love drugs to my wife and children consistently and faithfully because that is what enhances my position as a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
