Then the devil said to him, if you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become a loaf of bread. But Jesus told him, No! The Scriptures say, people do not live by bread alone. (Lk.4:3-4) NLT
As the head of the family, spiritual leader and mentor over your wife and children, you must understand that your presence in the lives of your flock is more than bread and butter. This means that your relationship with your wife and children must not only be guided by what they eat, drink or wear, but what by the greater plans of God for their lives. In Lk.4:4, the Scriptures say that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word of God. The most important thing that must guide the way you mentor your wife and children and respond to the issues of life as the leader in your home is the word of God. It is a righteous thing to provide for your family. But it is much more important that you provide them with the Word of God that can make them live and become better citizens of God on earth.
The word of God is the best seed you can ever sow into the lives of your flock. That is what makes the difference between you and the unbeliever. Your wife and children must see the true reflection of God in you. Your external relationships and associations must show that you are living by the dictates of God. Therefore, for you to live by every word that proceeds from the word of God, you must surrender your life to Jesus Christ. This requires you to make Him your Lord and personal Saviour. According to 2Cor.5:17, it is the relationship that you have with Jesus and in Him that recreates your life for better performance. Secondly, you must walk in the fear of God. You must hold the word of God in high esteem and allow it to define your actions.
It is very important for you to appreciate that you occupy a glorious position in your family kingdom. You must also understand that the weapon you need to make the most of your headship is the word of God. So, make it count.
· Father, in the name of Jesus, keep my spirit alive by Your word
· Father, in the name of Jesus, destroy every form of addiction in my life.
· Father, in the name of Jesus, empower me with Your grace to have self-control.
I live by the word of God in all that I do because that is what makes me a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
