Together As One

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Genesis 2:21-24

More Scriptures: Matt.19:5-6, Mal.2:14-15, Pro.5:18

And he said, for this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and they twain shall be one flesh. Wherefore they are no more twain (two) but one flesh. Whatever therefore God has joined together, let no man put asunder (Matt.19:6-7).

I will begin by saying that your marriage relationship with your wife is established by God, and not your church or parents. The Scriptures say that whatever therefore God has joined together…… (Matt.19:6). It was God who joined you both together, and the aim is to establish and achieve oneness with your wife. Anything that is contrary to this plan is from the devil. God did not make you to be an island? He said in Genesis chapter 2:15-18 that it is not good for you to be alone. As great as God is, He is not alone. He is with the Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. You can see that God created you as a husband to partner with your wife. Your wife remains your first and most important partner.

You must appreciate that your relationship with your wife is a covenant. And God is a witness (Mal.2:14). You enjoy tremendous benefits when you take advantage of your partnership with your wife. The word of God says that two shall put ten thousand to flight. So, what happens when you walk in partnership with your wife? Firstly, it provides safety for you. It also serves as a source of strength and comfort. Therefore, you must resist every attempt of hell that wants to set you up against your wife. Rekindle your friendship with your wife. Make her your best friend. Don’t deal with her wickedly but in knowledge and wisdom. Remember that she is your project and you will present her before God on the judgment day according to Ephesians 5:20-27. But how do I make my wife my covenant partner for an effective relationship? Treat her with respect at home and outside the house. Intercede for her often especially in those areas of her life where she needs help. Serve her with your time, body and finances. Be open to her about your visions and dreams. Be her teacher, coach, and mentor. Be kind and faithful to her.

·         Father, in the name of Jesus, I resist all attempts of satan to be bitter against my wife.

·         Father, in the name of Jesus, fill my heart with renewed love for my wife.

·         Father, in the name of Jesus, help me not be weary of doing good to my wife.

I am bonded in genuine love with my wife and I hold her in high esteem because that is my duty as a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
