Many husbands have grown up to believe that their wives must be relegated to the background. Some cultures promote silence from our wives and this is responsible for the maltreatment of our wives by their husbands. Some husbands see their wives as housemaids. Others see them as slaves. But how does God see her? How do you see her? Read this interesting verse of Scripture. It will change the way you see your wife. Likewise husbands, dwell with them (wife) according to knowledge, giving honour unto your wife, as unto a weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers be not hindered ( 1Pt.3:7). God sees your wife as an honourable woman. That is how you must see her. God sees her as a joint heir with you. That is how you must see her. God sees her as an intelligent being. That is how you must see her.
Furthermore, you are to relate with her according to knowledge. This means that you need to understand her divine make up as a woman. A woman is different from a man in many respects. And if you don’t know this, you may ignorantly mistreat your wife and not see anything wrong in what you do. She has been specially designed to complement what you lack. For instance, God made her to be sensitive to details, which is why she can ask as many questions as possible. She wants to be listened to and if you don’t understand her make up, you may see her as a thorn in your life. But what do I do to see my wife like Jesus Christ sees her? Firstly, you must let the love of Christ be shed abroad in your heart by the Spirit (Rom.5:5). Secondly, you must walk your talk. Let your life become a living and readable testimony. Thirdly, set aside a day in the week to pray for the impartation of your measure of grace into her life. It may be a few words of faith as you drive your car to work or your business places. It may even be during your break time or lunch hour. Don’t forget that you left all to be joined to her to make all the positive differences in her life (spiritual, mental, social, physical and emotional) possible.
· Father, in the name of Jesus, put Your life in me and make me be like You to my wife, children and family.
· Father, in the name of Jesus, please help me to manifest the very life of Jesus Christ in all that I do.
· Father, in the name of Jesus, empower me to intercede for my wife and children.
I now have a better view of my wife and children and I will begin to honour them because that is what makes me a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen
