Every Husband Is A Good Shepherd

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Zech.10:1-2

More Scriptures: 1Tim.3:4, Mk.6:34, Jer.49:19

Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain, so the Lord shall make bright clouds and give them showers of rain to everyone grass in the field. For the idols have spoken vanity and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams, they comfort in vain, therefore they went their way as a flock, they were troubled because there was no shepherd (Zech.10:1-2)

When a husband ceases to function in his capacity as the head of his family, trouble becomes inevitable (Matt.9:36). The absence of a true shepherd is the gateway to chaos and troubles. The Bible passage in Zech.10:2 tells us that the people were troubled because there was no shepherd. As the head of your family, you are a shepherd overseeing the sheep (wife and children). And the sheep were given to you to nurture, cultivate and develop. So, you are more than a title holder. Your covenant responsibility is to secure your sheep from the attacks and influences of the world. You are like the door; hence nothing can reach your flock without your permission.

But for you to function in this glorious position as a good and godly shepherd, you must assume full and personal responsibility over the lives of your wife and children. You must not be like Adam, the husband of Eve, who was quick to make excuses for his failure to be the good shepherd God had intended (Gen.3:3-10). Secondly, you must be committed to doing what the shepherd-hood office demands, even when it is not convenient and does not make sense. The proof of commitment is practical action. Thirdly, you must continue to be in the Spirit. This means that your spirit man must be fed on a daily basis with the word of God. You also meditate on the word untill it becomes life. There are so many falsehoods in the world today. There are so many pains and deceptions today. You have a duty as the shepherd over your sheep to protect your flock.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to provide protection marks for my wife and children.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with divine wisdom and help me to walk in Your word.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with the Spirit of truth and revelation.

FAITH CONFESSION

I make myself available to be a good shepherd to my wife and children because that is what gives value to my headship as a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
