So, I decided that I would not bring you grief with another painful visit. For if I cause you grief, who will make me glad? Certainly, not someone I have grieved. (2 Cor.2:1-2) NLT
As the husband and the head of your family, does your presence bring grief to your wife or gladness? Does your presence in the lives of your children bring them pain or peace? These are very critical questions that you must answer if you desire to become a good and godly man, husband and father. Paul was a leader who was interested in the overall good of his flock. At every point in his leadership function, he worked hard to ensure that his followers saw the reality of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. That is who you are. That is what God has called you to be to your flock-living a life that makes you attractive to your wife and children. Your wife should long for your presence much more than anything else. Your children should long for your presence much more than the TV programmes. If your flock are happy when you are not around then know that you have hurt them without knowing. But I pray in the name of Jesus, that every satanic force manipulating your misbehavior be terminated right now. I decree and declare your freedom in Jesus Name.
But for you to make your life profitable to your flock, you must acknowledge that they have emotions. They have feelings. So, you don’t just abuse them or speak disrespectfully to them. You must also understand that they can think. So, you should stop stirring up actions that would want to make them look stupid and foolish. If your wife and children do not know, guide them to the answer. If they have questions, encourage them to ask you even if you don’t have a clue. When you do all these, you expand the space for your flock to see you as a mentor, teacher, helper and friend. I have vowed to make myself so relevant in the lives of my flock that they long for my presence. The birth of Jesus Christ, the perfect example of a good and godly husband heralded glad tidings. Your life must reproduce the same testimony because you have the mind of Christ.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
· Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me relevant in the lives of my flock.
· Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me wisdom and help me to apply it as I relate with my flock.
· Father, in the Name of Jesus, destroy the root of foolish speaking in my life.
FAITH CONFESSION
I am a kind of Christ to my wife and children so, I make my presence in their lives profitable as a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
