Letter Of Recommendation

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: 2Cor.3:2-4

More Scriptures: Matt.5:16, 1Tim.4:12, 1Cor.16:11

The only letter of recommendation we need is you yourselves. Your lives are a letter written in our hearts; everyone can read it and recognize our good work among you. Clearly, you are a letter from Christ showing the result of our ministry among you. This letter is written not with pen and ink, but with the Spirit of the living God. It is carved not on tablets of stone but in human hearts. We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ. (2Cor.3:2-4) NLT

In life as in all endeavours, good recommendation is vital for progress and change of levels. If anyone gets a bad recommendation especially from those who may have related with him or her, it spells doom. So, it is safe to say that positive recommendation from our flock is the peak of our calling as husbandmen. It also gladdens the heart if your flock can confidently tell all who cares to listen how husbandly you have been. In 2Cor.3:2, the word of God says, the only recommendation we need is you yourself. This means that what interests your flock is the continuous and steady multiplication of your personal testimonies. Your wife or children are not interested in your charisma as much as they are in your character. Your flock is not as excited about your tales as much as your triumphs. Your flock wants to tell people how you walked in a good and godly manner.

But why do I need a recommendation from my flock, after all I am the head of the family? Well, the answer is provided in verse two of 2Cor.3. The only letter of recommendation we need is you yourselves. Your lives are a letter written in our hearts; everyone can read it and recognize our good work among you. Note the following. First, you are a letter written in the hearts of your wife and children. Secondly, your life can be read by your flock and outsiders. Thirdly, your character cannot be hid. You cannot pretend to be a good and godly husband when you are not. You cannot claim to be who you are not in your family fold. Therefore, make the works of Jesus Christ, effectual through your life so that your light can shine before men that they glorify God (Matt.5:14-16).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, make my life a living epistle of Your character to my flock.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower my life to speak loudly of Your nature for all to see.

·         Father in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from every root of insincerity and pretentious lifestyle.

FAITH CONFESSION

My good works are written in the hearts of my wife and children because that is what defines my headship as a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
