The New Wine Husband

Who is a new wine husband? And what does he represent in the lives of his sheepfold and the world at large? Jesus speaking gave an illustration about the new wine and the new wine skin. He said that if you put the new wine in an old wine skin, it would burst. So, He admonished that new wine must be put into a new wine skin. From this illustration by Jesus Christ, the perfect example of a good and godly husband, it shows that there is a relationship between who we are and the environment we live in. For instance, the husband who claims to be good and godly cannot be found around the beer parlour, brothel or gambling arena. It just doesn’t fit. A good and godly husband should not be found in an environment where vulgar statements are encouraged and corruption is the order of the day. The Word of God commands that we come out from amongst them… A lot of the time as husbands, we walk into certain places that do not represent who we are and we end up fighting for the soul of our conscience. How does a good and godly husband explain his presence in a brothel or a beer parlour? This is why it has been said that what you don’t want to eat, don’t smell.

So, the new wine husband is that husband who is disciplined with his movement and conversation. He defines where he goes and the kind of relationships he wants to be identified with. He is that husband who is self confident and cannot be swayed by anyone to be found in the wrong places. God doesn’t want your testimony corrupted. He wants you to influence your world for Him. As the head of the family, you must mind where you go and the kind of invitations you accept. You must learn to ask questions from the person inviting you and if the answers are not convincing, decline.  There are some invitations I will never accept, no matter who the person is. There are certain places I will never visit, even if it is the last place on earth. Your walk with God is more important than your walk with men. You were created to worship and please Him. If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things have passed away, behold all things have become new (2 Cor.5:17) KJV

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, lead me away from the wrong environment and associations.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to stand for the truth at all times.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, connect me with good and godly husbands and let me influence them for You.
