The Spirit Of Your Voice

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Jer.35:5-8

More Scriptures: Ps.29:3, Eph.6:4, Jn.10:27

I set cups and jugs of wine before them and invited them to drink, but they refused. No, they said, we don’t drink wine, because our ancestor Jehonadab son of Recab gave us this command, you and your descendants must never drink wine. So we obeyed him in all these things. We have never had a drink of wine to this day, nor have our wives, our sons or our daughters (Jer.35:5-6,8) NLT

As the head of your family and the shepherd over your flock, how powerful is your voice in the lives of your sheep? Can they hear your voice when they are in the midst of an ungodly environment? How has your voice strengthened your sheep to overcome temptation and satanic offers? These are vital questions you and I must answer if we want to make the most of our office as the husbandman. In our text today, the seed from the lineage of Jehonadab, were offered drink by the king. The offer from the king looked harmless but inside it were thorns. Despite the invitation to drink wine, the children of Recabites refused. Why? Because their shepherd had told them years back. The voice of their fathers reechoed in their hearts. You must understand that your sheep are not living in isolation. Whether at their work places or school, they relate with people-the good, the bad and the worse. Far away from you, they see and hear what wants to distract them from the path of righteousness. So, it is only your voice in their hearts that would give them victory.

In Ps.29:4, the word of God describes how powerful your voice is. The voice of the Lord is powerful, the voice of the Lord is majestic. You represent the God-head in your family fold and you command the same authority that His voice will command (Gen.1:26:28). But what is your voice? It is the instructions drawn from the living word of God and communicated to your flock (Eph.6:4). They include sincerity, boldness, faith, faithfulness, courage, purity, obedience, respect and honour, and much more.  So, the question before you is this, how much of Biblical instructions have you given to your flock? And how much of such instructions have you obeyed and lived by for your flock to see? I want you to know that your voice will be of no effect in the lives of your flock if you don’t live by example.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower my voice to have maximum positive impact on my flock.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live by every word that proceeds from Your word.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, make my flock both hearers and doers of Your instructions.

FAITH CONFESSION

I affirm that my voice shall make maximum positive impact in the lives of my wife and children because that is what makes me a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
