The love you don’t demonstrate to your sheep is the love not worth talking about. The love of God that Christ wants you to express to your flock is not just of the heart. You must show it by your actions. That is what Jesus Christ did for you and I. God so loved us and wanted to reconcile us back to His original plan in Gen.1 and 2. Before the fall of the first husband, God had direct and personal fellowship with Adam. The husband had everything he would ever need to live the abundant life. Sadly, he became disobedient to the instructions God gave in Gen.2:14-16 and fell to the tricks of the devil. But God did not give up on man. He loved and still loves man. So, to give expression to His love for man, He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus to die for humanity. He did only wish it, he acted it. That is the nature of God at work in you. Your love must be visible to your wife and children and even to the blind. Do you know that a husband who truly loves his flock as Christ would, cannot hide it? It will be visible for all to see? Infact, you don’t have to explain that you love your flock. Let your fruits of God’s love appear to all.
However, there are forces that will want to hinder you from expressing the love of Christ to your flock. The first is the tradition of men. The word of God warns about the dangers of traditions. Traditions limit you from expressing all the nature of Jesus Christ to you flock. For instance, Lk.10:44 tells us that the leader who wants to be the greatest must be a servant to his followers. That is the word for you but the tradition of men will tell you to do otherwise. The second hindrance is pride. Pride is distasteful to God. He hates it and resists anyone who is proud. When you serve your flock, it does not reduce your influence in their lives. Jesus Christ stooped low and watched His disciples’ feet, yet they still called Him Lord of all. The truth is that your flock will respect and honour you when you serve them. The third is the kind of relationship you keep. You must be very careful who becomes your friend. Any husband and anyone who will make you take the word of God lightly must not be listened to. Therefore, make your life count positively in the lives of your flock.
