Main Scriptures: 1Chro.14:1-2
More Scriptures: Mal.3:10, Lk.6:48, Jas.1:5
Then king Hiram of Tyre sent messengers to David, along with cedar timber and stonemasons and carpenters to build him a palace. And David realized that the Lord had confirmed him as king over Israel and had greatly blessed his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel (1Chro.14:1-2) NLT
God blessed the kingdom of David for the sake of the people he was ordained to rule over. This is the truth for you. God has placed you over your flock for their benefits. This means that all you have and will ever have is for the good of your wife and children. You are not blessed to be a burden to your sheep. There are husbands that have derailed from the old landmarks the moment they moved up the ladder of success. That is when they make their belly their god. That is when they develop and retain relationships that will dim their light of righteousness.
But how do become a blessed husband? First, you must develop a covenant relationship with God and walk in it faithfully. You must remember that God has blessed you so that you can be a blessing and not a curse to your wife and children. Secondly, you must walk in wisdom in managing your resources that God has blessed you with. The word of God tells us that if anyone lacks wisdom, let him ask and the Lord will give liberally. The wisdom of God at work in your life is what empowers you to spend your finances wisely, spend your time profitably and invest your life in the lives of your flock. Thirdly, you must be a covenant practitioner by honoring God with your time and finances. God wants to bless you richly. He wants to keep the windows of heaven opened continually over your life and family. However, you have to activate it by your giving (Mal.3:10, Lk.6:48). Fourthly, you must have a grateful heart towards God at all times, irrespective of the circumstances. As you thank God for making you the head of your family and as you celebrate Him for all that He has done for you, He ensures that the blessings you have received from Him are secured. Always remember that you are the advantage for your flock. You must make the most of it for them.
