The Nehemiah’s Anointing

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Neh.4:14

More Scriptures: Heb.3:4, 2Chro.3:1, Ac.15:16

Then as I looked over the situation, I called together the nobles and the rest of the people and said to them, don’t be afraid of the enemy! Remember the Lord, who is great and glorious and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives and your homes (Neh.4:14) NLT

The best thing you can offer your wife and children is the offer of hope. Nehemiah said to his people, “don’t be afraid of the enemy”. The people needed to rebuild the temple of the Lord but it appeared there was opposition against this plan and the people were discouraged. But the leader stood firm and encouraged the people to move on and build. At the end of the day, the walls of Jerusalem were rebuilt. This is the same attitude God wants you to have as the shepherd over your flock. You must understand that your wife and children face challenges. It may be in their relationships, academics, finances, careers, health or struggles from within. Whenever your wife and children experience threats, you must rise up like Nehemiah and tell them, “do not be afraid of the enemy”. You must make them see light and victory in the midst of darkness.

However, you cannot command hope in the lives of your wife and children if you don’t have faith in your heart, inspired by the word of God. It is the word of God in your heart that creates the faith you need to motivate your flock to go forward, the obstacle notwithstanding. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Secondly, you must have experiential testimonies of the acts of God in your life which your flock are witnesses to. Jesus, the perfect example of a good and godly husband said that if you don’t believe in me, believe in the works that I do -testimonies. Therefore, you need to apply the weapon of faith to your personal life’s challenges to generate the testimonies that will inspire hope in your wife and children. And as you walk in this light, you will be the first person your wife and children will share their fears with. You are the first pastor of your congregation-wife and children. The same way you look up to the pastor of your church for assurance is exactly who you represent in the lives of your flock. Therefore, make it count positively.
