She Is A Joint Heir With You

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: 1 Pet. 3:7-8

More Scriptures: 1Thess.4:4, Col.3:19, Gen.2:21-22

In the same way you married men should live considerately with your wives, with an intelligent recognition of the marriage relation, honouring the woman as physically the weaker, but realizing that you are joint heirs of the grace of God’s unmerited favour of life, in order that your prayers may not be hindered and cut off. Otherwise you cannot pray effectively (1Pet.3:7) AMP

One of the kingdom mysteries to getting our prayers answered is hidden in the first book of Peter chapter 3 and verses seven (7) to eight (8). And if any husband will align himself to this truth, he will enjoy the fruits of being the head of the family, joyfully. As the head of your family, it is important to recognise that being the husbandman is quite challenging and so you will need the help of God to overcome them. God is the only Person who can empower you to lead your wife and children profitably. He is the only Person who can impart you with divine wisdom to know what to do and how to relate with your flock in ways that pleases Him. You can only access these benefits on the altar of prayer. But when you dishonour your wife and treat her as though she is furniture, then you will not be able to pray effectively and your prayers will be hindered. The consequence of your unanswered prayers is frustration. God doesn’t want that for you.

Now, how do you live considerately with your wife? First, you must recognise that she is created in the image of God. The Scripture says that male and female created He them. Secondly, she is your ordained helper. God did not send her to you to destroy your life but to be part of those that will assist you in fulfilling God’s plan and purpose for your life. It is not good for man to be alone. I will make for him a helpmeet…… Thirdly, you must acknowledge that your wife is not a perfect woman. She is not an angel. She has so many gaps that need to be filled by you and you alone. So, if she steps out of line, don’t consider her a failure or a misfit. What you do is to take advantage of her failures and turn them into a success for her. Therefore, treat your wife with the knowledge in the fear of God and expect a highway to the throne of answered prayers.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to treat my wife with knowledge according to Your word.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to recognize the weakness of my wife and respond with compassion.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the spirit of condemnation and fault-finding.

FAITH CONFESSION

I live considerately with my wife in the fear of God because that is the gateway to a life of answered prayers as a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
