Main Scripture: Mk.3:13-19
More Scriptures: Acts 27:22, Is.51:7, Heb.11:1
And He went up on the mountain and called Him those He Himself wanted. And they came to Him. Then He appointed twelve that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach and to have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons, Simon, to whom He gave the name Peter (Mk.3:13-16) NKJV
Have you ever wondered what will make your wife to serve you and be ready to give you her all? And do you think that your wife will ever give you first place in her life? I want to assure you that it is possible. You can enjoy the loyalty of your wife and children now and even at old age. But you have to do exactly what Jesus Christ, the perfect example of a good and godly husband, did. Jesus Christ empowered His disciples. He took time to teach them and explain the best ways to go about their assignment. In Mk.3, the word of God tells us that and he went up on the mountain and called Him those Himself wanted. Jesus always had great encounters at the mountain top and He wanted His disciples to have the same experience. He knew that the only time He can connect to His disciples was when He had empowered them. So, He could call them friends and relate with them well.
That is what God expects of you. God wants you to build up your flock. He wants you to be the agent of development toward the growth of your wife and children. So, the question is how do I empower my wife and children? There are five action plans that you must take. The first is for you to select the kind of words that you speak to your flock. Your words must be gracious and full of encouragement. Secondly, you must be your flock’s first cheerleader. It doesn’t matter the results that your sheep are producing. In Acts of the Apostle, the great man of God, Apostle Paul stood in the gap and became a source of encouragement when the ship they were travelling in was in danger. And now I exhort you to be of good cheer; for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among you but of the ship (Acts 27:22). You must also give opportunity to your wife and children to express themselves. As the head of your family, God did not make you the leader over your flock to torment them but to be a blessing. Let your wife ask you about your movement. Let your children ask you questions about your values.
And as you do these, your sheep will honour and sing your praises to the high places of the earth.
