Give The Word Of God First Place

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws. I have suffered much; preserve my life, Lord according to your word (Ps.119:105-107) NIV

Let me begin by asking this question. What influences the decision you take about your wife and children? Is it the tradition of your language or tribe or the living word of God? What takes first place in your life as a man, husband and father? Your sincere answer to these questions will help you to reevaluate your life as the head of your family. As the head of your family, it is very important for you to understand that the principal raw material you require to mould, reshape, influence and direct your wife and children is the word of God. Also, the decision you take as it affects you and your sheep must be influenced by the truth of the Word of God. According to Ps.119:105, the word of God is the weapon that will provide you with direction on what to do in the face of challenges you may be having with your sheep. The word of God empowers you to act righteously.

So, how do you give the Word of God the first place in your life as the spiritual authority and head of your family? The first step is for you to acknowledge that the word of God is true and it represents the mind of God for you. Look at these Bible passages. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. ALL THINGS WERE MADE BY HIM (THE WORD)  and without him was not anything made that was made (Jn.1:1-3). This is the second Scripture. Through faith we understand that the WORLDS WERE FRAMED BY THE WORD OF GOD so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear (Heb.11:3). You must believe that the office of the husbandman is created by the Word of God. And so, you will require the Word of God to make the most of your leadership function in your family fold. The second step is to hide the Word of God in your heart and meditate on it daily. What this means is to think the Word of God as you eat, sleep, drink, walk, watch and pray. “Thy Word have I hid in my heart that I may not sin against thee”. The third step is for you to pray the Word of God that you have encountered to gain root downward in your heart so that when the challenges in your sheepfold show up, you will not give up on the Word. God wants you to take first place in your family fold. He wants you to be a leading example to your sheep and other husbands around you.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

·         Father, in the name of Jesus, empower me to give Your Word first place in my life.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower my heart receive Your Word with gladness.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from every trap of distraction.

FAITH CONFESSION

I give the Word of God, first place in my life and in all my decisions because that is what I need to become a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
