Main Scriptures: Matt.8:14-15
More Scriptures: Lk.4:40, Mk.3:24, Ecc.4:12
Now when Jesus had come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother lying sick with a fever. So he touched her hand and the fever left her. And she arose and served them (Matt.8:14-15)
As the husband and the head of your family, you must understand that whatever you see in the physical has its origin in the spiritual. Furthermore, the spiritual controls the physical, so everything that you do must be seen from first the spiritual perspective. Now let me ask you these questions. When last did you touch your wife-kiss, hug or make love to her? Do you find it irritating to touch your wife? Well, if you find it difficult to touch her or you don’t think it is necessary, then you are an unrighteous husband and lover. Touching your wife is medicinal, both physically and spiritually. It is the best way to communicate healing and wellness to your wife, be it in her body or emotions. In Luke 4:40, Jesus Christ, your Perfect example of how husbands are to behave, touched the sick people that were brought to Him. Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto Him, and HE LAID HIS HANDS ON EVERYONE OF THEM AND HEALED THEM (Lk.4:40). Just the same Jesus touched the sick by laying His hands on them. So you are to do to the wife of your covenant (Mal.2:14). It is a righteous thing to kiss your wife as many times as you can. Sometimes what your wife needs is not the vacation trip or jewelry or even cars or any material gift. She yearns for your touch. Now what does your touch do to your relationship with your wife? Firstly, it connects your souls together. It binds you both in unity (Mk.3:24). Secondly, it reassures her of your loyalty to her. It re-establishes and reinforces your love for her. Your wife wants to be assured and reassured that she is relevant to you today as she was when you first met her. Thirdly, it helps you to place a high value on her. Your wife’s self-esteem is as important as her response to you. If her self-confidence is not enhanced, her attitude would be negatively affected. Your physical and spiritual connection to her empowers her self-confidence. Fourthly, it polishes your thought line, by making you think only of good and not evil towards her (Phil.4:8). However, you need to recognize that touching your wife is a righteous thing to do. Furthermore, you must contend in prayers against those little foxes-bitterness, anger, unforgiveness, discontentment, pride and arrogance that want to spoil your vine-family. It is your attention to God’s word and obedience to all His instructions that determines your value and worth as a husband (Gen.12:1-3). You must allow the word of God to gain root in your heart so it can bear fruits. Start with physical touch and see the spirits of your flock lifted. You must make your life count!
