And what I say unto you I say unto all, WATCH. Mark 13:37. I was in church when this Scripture popped up in my spirit for every husband and spiritual head. And that is, you must watch over the affairs of your wife and children and over your family kingdom. It is important for you to note that as the head of your family and the spiritual authority over the members of your flocks, you have a greater role to play as a watchman. You are the shepherd; your wife and children are your sheep. No one not even the devil has the power to influence your flocks unto unrighteousness. Very importantly, you are the access door to the lives of your flocks. No one can gain entrance into their lives without your permission. But you may want to ask, in what areas am I supposed to watch over the members of my family? Firstly, you exercise the watchman anointing over their spiritual lives. And you do this by interceding for the salvation and establishment of their souls into the kingdom of God and unto righteousness.
The Bible tells us that as leaders over our flocks, we must travail in prayers until Christ is formed in them. Your greatest heritage is the spiritual wellbeing of your wife and children, because when their spiritual lives are in order, every other area of their lives will fall unto pleasant places (Ps.16:6). Secondly, you must allow your conduct in and out of your home environment influence your wife and children positively. In Joshua 24:15, the Scripture says of a husband, who influenced not only his family unto following God, but also a whole nation. Remember that Joshua was appointed as the leader after the death of Moses, just the same way God has appointed you head over your wife and children. He was commanded to watch over the people just the same way God has made you a watch man over your wife and children. See what was said of him. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom you will serve whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell, but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord. And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the Lord to serve other gods (Josh.24:15)
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, endue me with power to watch over my wife and children diligently
- Father, by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, deliver me from fear and timidity
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with the Spirit of courage and boldness, as I watch over my flocks.
FAITH CONFESSION
I awake and watch over my wife and children because I am ordained by God to be a good and godly husband in Jesus mighty Name. Amen.
