Main Scriptures: Deut.8:17-19
More Scriptures: Ps.23:1, 1Tim.5:7-8, Eph.6:2
Remember that God, your God gave you the strength to produce all this wealth so as to confirm the covenant that he promised to your ancestors as it is today (Deut.8:18) MSG
Let me begin by saying that God wants every husbandman to succeed, including you. And the reason why He wants the head of the family to succeed financially and materially is two folds. The first is for him to fulfill the commandment God gives in 1Tim.5:7-8. It reads, but if any fails to provide for his own and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith and is worse than an infidel. You are the good shepherd and every good shepherd provides for his sheep (Ps.23:1). The second is so that the man can reflect his position as an ambassador of Christ in his sheepfold. As the head of your family, you are an ambassador of Christ. You represent the very image and likeness of Christ to your wife and children. When your sheep see you, they should see all the characteristics of Jesus Christ in you. You are an ambassador of Christ (2Cor.5:20). You must understand that when you lack economic power you are limited in discharging all your functions as the head of the family. You also lack authority. And when these happen you lose your respect and dignity before your wife, children and family members. God wants to bless you financially and materially. He has the power to make that happen in your life (Deut.8:18). But you have to make these commitments if you want to enjoy enduring financial and material success.
The first is that you must be a giver towards the advancement of God’s work on the earth, and you must also give for the good of humanity. This includes giving to the poor around you, building healthcare and educational facilities in your locality or donating educational facility or sponsoring the education of the less privileged in your community. If you are stingy, you will end up an unhappy poor husbandman. When you give, you are actually sowing seeds. And the harvest comes in different ways and from diverse locations and persons. But this I say, he which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly, and he which soweth bountifully shall also reap bountifully. Every man according as he has purposed in his heart, so let him give, not grudgingly or of necessity, for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that ye always having all sufficiency in all things may abound to every good work. (2Cor.9:6-8). The second is for you to give to your parents however little it may be. It is the only way you can truly honour them. (Eph.6:2). The third is to live a life that is pleasing to God. The Scripture has this to say. Say to the righteous, it shall be well with him (Is.3:10). Your financial wellness as the good and godly husband is founded on doing what God says you should do (Deut.28:1). Can you now see a good start for you in this New Year? I know you can see it. You can become the good and godly husband.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, anoint me with the power to get wealth.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me to have all sufficiency in all things.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with the giving spirit and let me abound unto good works.
FAITH CONFESSION
I am committed to cultivate and live by the attitude of giving generously because that is what generates the power I need to be a provider to my wife and children as the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
