Main Scripture: Jeremiah 10:20-21
More scriptures: Rev.12:10, Gen.3:9, III Jn:2
My tabernacle is spoiled, and all my cords are broken, my children are gone forth of me, and they are not: there is none to stretch forth my tent any more, and to set up my curtains. For the pastors are become brutish and have not sought the Lord, therefore THEY SHALL NOT PROSPER and all their flocks shall be scattered (Jer.10:20-21)
Let me start by saying that the prosperity of your personal life is the prosperity of your family life. If you want to succeed as a good and godly husband in this life and the life after, you must work for the prosperity of your home, and that includes your wife and children. As the head of the family, it is very important for you to appreciate the place of your sheepfold in the heart of God. God takes your relationship with your wife and children very seriously and will use it as basis to appraise if you to see if you are a responsible husband or not. From the Scriptures above, you will notice that God held the pastors responsible for the destruction of the tabernacle. Your sheepfold is God’s tabernacle and He put in charge as the pastor over the lives of His sheep-your wife and children. As a pastor, you are a steward accountable to God. This explains why after the first tabernacle was destroyed in (Gen.3:9-10), God held the husband responsible. Many husbands are struggling with their health, finances, career, spiritual life and business not because the devil is stronger, but because they have become brutish to their sheep.
What does it mean to brutish? It means to be wicked and to deal treacherously with your sheep. To emotionally or mentally or physically beat up your wife and children is wickedness. To be happy when your sheep fall and fail is brutish. To be unkind to your wife and children and not show any form of pity to them in their moments of need is wickedness also. And God is saying if you do these things to them, then you have not sought His ways and therefore you shall not prosper. This is why as the spiritual head of your family, you must continue to desire the best of God for your wife and children so that your hopes and dreams for a prosperous life can be possible.
So, how do I overcome the brutish spirit from having a hold in my life? You engage the blood covenant. The blood of Jesus Christ, the GOOD SHEPHERD. We overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the words of their testimonies (Rev.12:10). The blood of Jesus destroys the power of wickedness and empowers you to treat your wife and children with respect and causes your prayers to be answered speedily (1Pet.3:7). God has qualified you as the head. He wants to prosper you and your sheepfold. Walk in His steps.
