THE LEVITES OF THE LORD (1)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Ezk.44:11

More Scriptures: Gen.2:14, Dan.1:8, Col.1:29

Yet they shall BE MINISTERS IN MY SANCTUARY, having CHARGE AT THE GATES OF THE HOUSE, and ministering to the house, they shall SLAY THE BURNT OFFERING and the sacrifice for the people and they shall STAND BEFORE THEM TO MINISTER unto them. (Ezk.44:11)

If you looked at the Scripture above, you may not necessarily glean anything that has to do with the husband. But as I opened my Bible to study, the Holy Spirit took me straight to this passage. And immediately He began to teach me the relevance to the responsibility of the husbandman who wants to become the good and godly man, husband and father.

As the head of the family, you are a Levite- one ordained by God to serve his sheep in his sheepfold. You are also a priest. So, what this means is that there is so much more that God has created you for. You are more than just a seed planting agent or provider. You are a god (Ps.82:6). Now, what are the critical areas of your ministry that God wants you to extend to your wife and children as their priest. Minister in my sanctuary. Your first parish of ministry is not your church. It is God’s Eden-your sheepfold. And God made the man and put him in the Garden of Eden (Gen.2:14). And each time God visited Adam and his wife to have fellowship with them, He did so in the garden of Eden. God has placed us right in the sheepfold as the shepherd. He owns the sheepfold and the sheep. That is why the Scripture did not say your sanctuary. The Bible says my (God’s own) sanctuary. What He expects you to do is to minister His word and life to your wife and children. It is important for you to understand that ministering is actually service or serving. It is serving the interest of people under your care. God has put your wife and children under your care, so you must represent the fullness of Jesus Christ to them both in words and in your actions.

But how do I minister in my home front and to my wife and children? You must first recognize that being the head of the family is a call to practical responsibility. This is because if you don’t accept that your position as the leader in your sheepfold requires you to provide, protect and guide your sheep, you will not fulfill all that God has prepared for you as the man, husband and father. The second is for you to make a quality determination to follow through with the demands of the office of the godly husbandman. The grace of God is always available to you when you truly make up your mind on any issue. This was what happened to Daniel. And Daniel purposed in his heart that he will not defile himself with the kings meat (Dan.1:8).. And God helped him to maintain his spirituality and righteousness. And finally, you engage the weapons of prayer, faith and bold confession over your headship.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, I receive power from You to be a responsible man, husband and father.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me so that I will not defile myself.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to be faithful to You, and my sheep.

FAITH CONFESSION

I have received power from God and through His Spirit to serve His best interests and the interest of my wife and children because that is what secures my headship as the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
