Main Scriptures: Ezk.44:11
More Scriptures: 1Sam.1:21, Gal.4:19, 1Tim.3:5
Yet they shall BE MINISTERS IN MY SANCTUARY, having CHARGE AT THE GATES OF THE HOUSE, and ministering to the house, they shall SLAY THE BURNT OFFERING and the sacrifice for the people and they shall STAND BEFORE THEM TO MINISTER unto them. (Ezk.44:11)
As I conclude this series, I want to reinforce the importance of who we are in Christ. You and I are gods (Ps.82:6). We are the source of our sheep. We give value and meaning to our sheep. And we shall give account of our stewardship to God as the godly man, husband and father. Finally, you and I must understand that if we learn how to tarry in prayers on our knees, we will rise up tall above the challenges satan, sin and the world may throw at us. So, today, we consider the last demand of your Levitical office. It is the place of intercession. The Scripture says, STAND BEFORE THEM TO MINISTER. What does it mean to minister? It means to serve. And note something very striking. It says stand before them to minister. So, your life becomes an example and a model worth emulating. Until you have proved that you minister to your wife and children in truth, righteousness and all the virtues of Christ, you are not fit to minister to your church congregation or any other person. The Bible says this. For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God (1Tim.3:5). As the shepherd over your sheep, your wife and children are your first congregants. Any virtue, knowledge and truth you know and have which you have not yet taught your sheep is not worth teaching outsiders. You must reflect the nature and life of Jesus Christ firstly for your sheep to see. It is hypocrisy to be kind, soft spoken, affectionate, accommodating, forgiving, patient and understanding with outsiders while you are the complete opposite to your wife and children. God hates it. It doesn’t fit you and it doesn’t fit your personality as the good and godly shepherd.
One of the ways you can put yourself to task by ensuring your ability to minister before your sheep, is to do what you say and say what you do. Jesus Christ gave us the perfect example. In Acts chapter 1, the Scripture has this to say. ……..Jesus began both to do and teach (Acts 1:1). Your words, actions and conduct must speak louder and must align with what God says you are. You must do what you teach and teach what you do. That is the only way your wife and children can trust you and have confidence in your judgement. You must also use the weapons of prayer and faith to enhance your capacity to be God’s best to your sheep. Make your life a leading light before your sheep and they will speak of your value to everyone. You are the good and godly husbandman. Make sure it is profitable.
