There are also commandments that God commands you to do as the godly father. As the godly father, God commands you to train your children. God wants you to lead them and show them the way to go. God wants you to pay attention to them and mould them to become the seeds that the Lord has blessed (Is.61:9). And ye fathers, nurture your children in the way and admonition of the Lord (Eph.6:4). It didn’t say mothers. It says you, the father of your children. You have a much greater work to do for your children than your wife because your children are your seeds. The best that your wife can do is to implement the road map that you have created for the training of your children. God wants your children to say like Isaac and Jacob say, the God of Abraham (Ex.3:15)
Obeying God in your responsibility as the man, husband and father is profitable. God did not set the rules to downgrade your personality as the shepherd of your sheep. Everything that He has told you to do is to enhance your status as the godly husband. So, do your part as the godly husbandman delightsomely and willingly. The Scripture in Ps.112 tells you the positive things that happen to you when you live as the good and godly husbandman. Firstly, your children shall be blessed on the earth and you will enjoy them till old age and when you return to God. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord and delighted in his commandment, his seed shall be mighty upon the earth (Ps..112:2). Secondly, you will enjoy wealth and riches. Because you have pleased the Lord, He makes all things to work in your favour at your work and in your various endeavours. Wealth and riches shall be in his house (Ps.112:3). Thirdly, you shall not be afraid of tomorrow. You will not be scared that your wife and children will cause you pain at the later stages of your life. In fact, you will enjoy peace of mind and strength in your spirit, soul and body. Surely, he shall not be afraid of evil tidings, his heart is fixed (Ps.112:6).
However, for you to obey what God has commanded you to do as the man, husband and father, you will require help from God. The Bible says that by strength shall no man prevail (1Sam.2:9). Jesus Christ is the perfect example of the good and godly husband. He has Spirits. It is called the Spirit of Christ. And one of the Spirits is the spirit of obedience. So, if you pray to Him to fill you with the Spirit of obedience, He will give it to you. You receive not because you ask not, now ask that you may receive that your joy may be full (Jn.16:24). God wants you to be full of joy in shepherding your wife and children, so when you ask Him, He will help you. And when that happens, you will never struggle to love your wife, nurture your children and provide for your home.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, unlock the power of the Spirit of obedience in my life.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to obey all Your commandments as the man, husband and father of my sheep.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, dignify my life as the head of my family.
FAITH CONFESSION
I am baptized with the Spirit of obedience and I shall obey all the commandments of God as the man, husband and father because that is what makes me the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
