THE POWER OF ATTORNEY

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Lk.10:18-19

More Scriptures: Mk.13:34, Lk.4:36, Tit.2:15

It is important for you to know that God has given you the authority to act on His behalf as the head of your family. God is not here, physically. He is in heaven. Jesus Christ who is the perfect example of the good and godly husband is also not on earth physically but in heaven. So, neither your wife or children have seen Jesus Christ, hence when the Bible says that you must love your wife as Christ has loved the church, it means your sheep can see Christ through you. It is also the same with your children. When the Scripture says that fathers must nurture their children in the way and admonition of the Lord, it demands that your seed see the Fatherhood nature of God through you. That is the power of attorney Christ has given to you. For I have given you authority over all…… (Lk.10:19). As the head of the family with the power of attorney to act on behalf of Jesus Christ, you have the right and power to do everything Jesus Christ would do if He were on earth as the man, husband and father. Jesus has transferred all rights to you. So, you are a Christ to your wife and children and in your sheepfold. But what rights and authority did Jesus transfer to me?

Firstly, He transferred the right for you to love your wife as He has loved the Church. (Eph.5:24-25). Your wife doesn’t have to see Jesus Christ physically to appreciate how He loved the church. Everything she ever wishes to see and understand about the love of Christ to her bride must be seen with you, in you and through you. You have the power to manifest every virtue that the Bible has indicated in 1Cor.13:4-8. You have the authority to extend kindness, mercy, compassion, patience, truthfulness, care, support, submit to her, forgiveness, protection and guidance to your wife. You also have the authority to protect your children, guide and guard them, instruct them, provide for their welfare, support and be their cheer leader.

But how do I exercise this authority in my sheepfold? You exercise it by faith. You must believe that you have the power to love and instruct your sheep before you can actually manifest the authority. You cannot act beyond the level of your faith. By faith, the elders obtained good report (Heb.11:2). You must also act out your authority. This means doing exactly what the Bible says because faith without works is vain (Jas.2:20). Thirdly, you must be confident and conscious of your authority as the good and godly man, husband and father. When you are conscious of who you are, it stirs up confidence in you to talk and act like what you think. You must never agree to the lie of the devil that you cannot love your wife. You must disagree with the rudiments of the world that you are not responsible for your children. God has positioned you to manifest the power of God that comes with being the man, husband and father. Exercise it.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, I exercise my authority and rights as the godly man, husband and father.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, I walk in the consciousness that I am a Christ in my sheepfold.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to confidently love and cherish and nurture my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I have the mandate of God to love my wife and children as Christ has loved the church and I demonstrate this truth faithfully and truthfully because that is what makes me the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
