The Scripture in Isa.11:1-3 provides the basis for the serial teaching for this week. In the next few days, I shall be sharing with you seven secrets that will give you command and control over your sheep, your sheepfold and the circumstances of life. I encourage you to please stay with every word that you will be learning during the next seven days and I am confident that you shall be empowered, inspired and motivated to becoming good and godly husbands.
As the head of the family, it is very important for you to understand that it is the Spirits of God at work in your life that give you the power to command righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost into your sheep and your sheepfold. And the Spirit of God is available and accessible. If you will desperately ask the Holy Spirit of God, you will get the Spirit. Your authority, command and control of your family affairs doesn’t lie with your age, educational qualification, colour, tribe, fluency of language and cash in the bank. Many husbands who are endowed educationally, financially and physically have lost the power to keep their sheepfold intact and overcome every trap of the devil set to destroy the sheep. This is why the Bible has this to say. It is not by power nor by might, but by my Spirit saith the Lord (Zech.4:6). Furthermore, it is not of him that willeth nor of him that runneth but of God that showeth mercy (Rom.9:16). So, if you must succeed as the good and godly man, husband and father, you must have the Spirit of Christ working maximally in you.
The Spirit of wisdom. The first spirit you need as the head of your family is the Spirit of wisdom. This wisdom is so powerful that it puts you in command of every negative attitude of your sheep. This wisdom empowers you to know what to do, when to speak, what to say and when to say it and how to say it. A lot of the time, your wife and children would offend you. They will do and say things that you do not like. Sometimes, you may feel like your wife and children have betrayed you. Naturally, you are tempted to speak harsh words to them or run away from the home. Other times, the challenges between you and your sheep could overwhelm you to the extent that you may want to give up on your wife, children and the marriage. But when the Spirit of wisdom resides in you, you are in total command and control of your sheep, sheepfold and the circumstances of life. Wisdom is the principal thing (Pro.4:7). And by wisdom is the house builded (Pro.24:3).
If any lack wisdom, let him ask and the Lord shall give liberally (Jas.1:5). The wisdom of God is the cure to all the fights between you and your sheep. It guarantees your peace, strength, joy and progress. Get it!
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from every foolish spirit.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, baptize me with the Spirit of wisdom in greater measure.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to think, walk, talk and act in the wisdom of God.
FAITH CONFESSION
I have the Spirit of wisdom working in me and it shows in my thoughts, conduct, actions and speech towards my wife and children and the challenges of life because that is what makes me the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
