THE WISE MASTER BUILDER

I have come to discover that the foundation is as important as what is built on it. In fact, the strength of any man’s life or building is a function of the quality of the foundation. If the foundation is strong, whatever is laid on it is enduring. But if the foundation is weak, whatever is laid on it will not stand the pressure. This is why, there is a need for you and I to examine the kind of foundation that we have laid or about to lay. So that we can trace the reason for our sheep’s’ good or bad behavior. As the husband and head of your family, do you agree that you are the leader of your home? Do you also agree that God made you the head over your wife and children? And do you also agree that where there are no followers, there cannot be a leader? If you agree with these truths, then the great question to you is this, what kind of foundation are you laying for your family fold? This is very important because everything rises and falls on leadership. In 1Corinthians 3, the Scripture has this to say, according to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation and another buildeth thereon. BUT LET EVERY MAN TAKE HEED HOW HE BUILDETH THEREUPON (1Corinthians 3:10).

As the shepherd overseeing your sheep, you are the master builder. You have the responsibility to lay the foundation upon which your wife and children will build their lives. It is not your wife’s responsibility or that of your children. The reason is because you are their source. God made her from you and your seed implanted into the womb of your wife produced the children you now have. So, the same way the shepherd prepares the field for his sheep to graze on, you also prepare the base on which your wife and children seek green pastures. (Psalms 23:1). In Genesis 2:15, the responsibility to tend and keep the Garden was handed over to the husband. But how do you become a wise builder? You become a wise builder laying the foundation of your family, relationship, conversations, decisions and actions on Jesus Christ. For other foundations can no man lay than that is laid, which is JESUS CHRIST (1Corinthians 3:11). Jesus Christ is your sure foundation, if you want to be a good and godly husband. Jesus Christ is the greatest support and pillar you need to help you become a good and godly husband to your flock. If you build your foundation on Him, it will not fall, fail or falter. However, for you to lay a good foundation, you must accept that there is an enemy, satan, who will do anything to destroy your family fold. He is called a thief, a destroyer and a killer (John 10:10). Secondly, you must surrender your will, emotion and life bodily to Jesus Christ.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to lay a godly foundation for my wife and children.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, let Your word have the final authority in my life.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver my sheep from satan.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am a wise builder and I lay my wife and children on the foundation of Jesus Christ because that is m y security as the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
