And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away. And Jesus answering saith unto them, HAVE FAITH IN GOD (Mk.11:20-22).
Today’s teaching is an assurance of faith for a discouraged shepherd. As the husband reading today’s devotional, it seems as if you are losing everything in and around you. It appears the heaven is shut over you and you don’t know what next to do. Perhaps satan is suggesting to you to take the shortest route out of the challenges and pressure-commit suicide. Maybe it is your wife and children that are not cooperating with you. It appears like the more you pray the worse the situation gets between you and your sheep. The Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ is saying to you, HAVE FAITH IN GOD. God doesn’t want you to have faith in your education, money, human connection, skills and position. He wants you to have faith in Him because He will never fail. Two reason why you must have faith God. The first is because, He created the office of the husbandhood that you occupy. And it is not good for man to be alone, I will make for him a helpmeet (Gen.2:18). Secondly, God has and set the expectations for the office that you occupy. Husbands, love thy wife and Christ loves the Church and gave Himself for it (Eph.5:25). And fathers, nurture thy children in the way and admonition of the Lord (Eph.6:4). Finally, I wish above all things that you prosper and be in health even as your soul prosper (3Jn:2).
I challenge you not give up on God, yourself and your sheep. There is victory in sight for you. Suicide is satanic. It is express ticket to hell. Absconding from home and leaving your wife and children is not the best way out for you. Joining the cult and selling your present and future of your sheep is a dangerous path. God loves you enough not to allow you fail. God wants the best for you. He wants you to succeed as the man, husband and father. All you need is to have faith in Him. This is how you can restore your faith in God. It is from Heb.6. wherein God, willing more abundantly to show unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath. That by two immutable things in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us (Heb.6:17-18). If you can remember just two things that God has done for you in the past or two prayer points that you have prayed which God answered, then be rest assured that He cannot lie to you with His word. If it is impossible for God to lie, it is impossible for His word to fail.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, stir up hope and faith in me for the work of the husbandhood.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from doubt and discouragement.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, hold me by Your mighty hands and let me be strong for my wife and children.
FAITH CONFESSION
I am not giving up on God, my wife and children and I am not giving in to the negative challenges and pressures around me because I have faith in God as the good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
