BEHIND SERVANTHOOD (2)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: 1 Tim.5:7-8

More Scriptures: 1Pt.3:7, Jn.10:16, Ezk.34:23

But ye shall not be so, but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he that is chief, as he that doth serve. For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? Is not he that sitteth at meat? But I am among you as HE THAT SERVETH (Lk.22:26-27).

Thank Jesus Christ for a new day. I know that yesterday was refreshing because of the new insight you have received as the godly husbandman. Now, you know that it is the privilege of God for you to be the husbandman and His grace that has made you the godly husband. So, you must treasure your headship in servitude and humility of heart.

Today, the second truth is that your headship comes with great responsibilities. And the areas of your responsibility are spiritual, mental, physical, and emotional. As the godly husbandman, the only way you can explain your leadership is how well you have worked on your spiritual life and that of your sheep; the physical well-being of your sheep and your sheepfold; your emotional stability as well as that of your sheep; and your mental state as well as that of your wife and children. This is why it is not cheap talk being the godly husbandman. It is hard work. As the husband and head of your family, the only way anyone, including your sheep, can describe and assess if you are indeed the good and godly husband are what they see you do. There are so many things that God has ordained that you must do as the godly man, husband and father.

After God had created the heavens and the earth, He made the man, called Adam. And in order for him to appreciate the place of responsibility as the leader, God took him to the Garden of Eden and this is what He commanded him to do. And the Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to tend and guard and keep it (Gen.2:15) Amplified. God has not changed. What He commanded the first husbandman to do is still what He commands you to do as the godly husbandman. Leadership comes with enormous responsibilities.

The principal way you can be empowered by the Spirit of God to function maximally as the head of the family is by giving more time to studying your Bible, to prayers and intercession and other spiritual exercises. As you explore the Word of God, you are exposed to what God demands from you. And as your knowledge of your responsibility increases, so shall your faith increase also. It will also enhance the quality of your prayer life and provide you a basis to measure your life as the good and godly man, husband and father to your wife and children and other husbandmen out there. There is so much that God has empowered you to do, you must rise up and take responsibility for your life and the lives of your sheep

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to perform my responsibilities to my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the power of indiscipline.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, open my eyes of understanding to learn of Your ways from Your Word.

 FAITH CONFESSION

I take personal and absolute responsibility for my wife and children and make impact in the world at large because that is what makes me a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
