EXERCISE DAILY IN GOD (3)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: 1Tim.4:6-10

More Scriptures: Jas.5:17-18, Lk.18:1, Philp.2:14

Yesterday, we looked at a vital tool you need to develop your capacity to function as the good and godly husbandman. And that is the tool of meditation. I challenge you to think on those things that are pure, lovely, and of good report from the word of God and act on them. You will be amazed at the positive response you will receive from your wife and children. Today, I want to share with you another tool. And that tool is prayer. When you have read the word of God, you meditate on it until the reality dawns on you. Thereafter, you must pray those revelations into actions. Prayer is not just a channel to get material benefits from God, it is also a platform through which you can be empowered to act what you think. All through Scriptures, you will discover that everyone who became aware of who they were in God, prayed their new position into existence. When Elijah realized that He had power with God, that he can decide what happened in and around him, He prayed for empowerment. And Elijah prayed that there will be no rain, and there was no rain. And it was so for three and half years. And he prayed again that there be rain, and there was rain (Jas.5:17-18).

You must understand that praying is an important ingredient you require to grow and function as that man that your sheep will respect, honour and adore. Prayer is like the air you breathe. The reason why so many husbands fail to act on what they have read and meditated on from the Bible is because they have not been empowered by the Spirit of God to act. Jesus, Who is the perfect example of the good and godly husband made this outstanding statement about prayer. Men ought to always pray and not faint (Lk.18:1). Without prayer, you cannot do much to activate the power that your position carries as the godly man, husband and father. A lot of the times, you desire to be kind, compassionate and supportive to your sheep. You also want to forgive them when they offend you. You want to be hospitable to them as well as be the shepherd indeed to them. But the more effort you put to act like the godly husband, the less results you get. So, most times, you become frustrated and discouraged and think it is not worth being the godly husbandman. That is not the case. You are struggling because you have not exercised yourself in an effectual prayer life.

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure (Philippians 2:14). Whatever you have read from the Bible about your role as the godly man, husband and father is the will of God for you. And the outcome is for you to be a blessing to your sheep. And prayer is that exercise that activates the power to function.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to give myself to prayer and intercession as a lifestyle.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from weariness of the spirit and body.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me how to pray and give me outstanding results.

FAITH CONFESSION

I give myself to praying in faith as a lifestyle and I pray the truth of God’s word into my life and by it I am empowered to think and act like Jesus Christ would to my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
