EXERCISE DAILY IN GOD (4)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: 1Tim.4:6-10

More Scriptures: Heb.11:6, Jas.1:6-7, Ps.1:4

Hallelujah! Today is the last day in this series. Four days ago, we started to expose the benefits we enjoy as heads of our families when we engage our spirit, souls and bodies in spiritual exercise. And we mentioned three tools that we require to exercise ourselves. The first is studying God’s word. The second is meditation and the third is prayer. The last tool is the action. That is, you act in faith and by the confession of your mouth. This is so important because many husbands have lost the results of their efforts due to inaction and wrong words. As the head of the family, you have a responsibility to act on what you have been empowered with by the Holy Spirit. For instance, if you have prayed to God to help you be kind, considerate, compassionate and patient with your wife and children, you must act as you have prayed. You must act in kindness, hospitality, patience and forgiveness. So, when  any member of your sheep offends you or desires to be cared for or protected, you intentionally offer them the love that they expect. This means that you must consciously be alert in your spirit man to know what is required of you in each given circumstance.

And as you act, you must do it in faith and not fear or doubt. The results of your exercise unto God will be diminished if you do not do it in faith. This is what the Scriptures say. Without faith it is impossible to please God and he that must come to God must first believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him (Heb.11:6). In the Book of James, the word of God tells us something significant about the need for you and I to act as godly husbandmen in faith. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord (Jas.1:6-7). You must relate with your wife and children in faith. They may not deserve your kindness, forgiveness and mercy. They may not deserve even your protection and provision. Nevertheless, you must step out and be kind to them, forgive them, pray for them, protect and provide for them, guide them and be a blessing to them. You must not see them act in certain positive ways before you act like Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the godly husband. Just be good and godly to them.

You ultimately enjoy benefits if you dare to exercise yourself in God. You become fit both today (for the enjoyment of your sheep) and forever (a place with God in heaven). Godly exercise is profitable. Engage in it. You can count on the blessings that flow from it.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to give, act and relate with my wife and children in faith as a lifestyle.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from doubt.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to dwell on Your words more than I dwell on the weaknesses and failures of my sheep.

FAITH CONFESSION

I give myself to acting in faith prayer as a lifestyle and I relate with my wife and children in faith and in line with the truth of God’s word because that is what makes me the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
