THE SPIRIT OF YOUR MOUTH

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: 2Thess. 2:7-8

More Scriptures: Rom.10:10, Ps.51:10, Pro.18:21

And then shall that wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with THE SPIRIT OF HIS MOUTH  and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming (2Thess.2:8).

I did not plan to write on this neither have I ever seen the light in the Scripture above until recently. As I was studying the Bible, the Spirit behind the word exploded in my spirit. I understood that my mouth is not just a part of my flesh or body, it is in fact a spirit. What this means is that every word that comes out of my mouth is spirit and has the power to reach far more places than I could ever imagine. No wonder Jesus speaking said, the word that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life. And in Rom.10:10, the Bible says that with the heart man believeth but with the mouth confession is made into salvation. Furthermore, the Book of Proverbs says that the power of life and death is in the tongue.

Now, this is very important for you as the leader in your family fold. Because your wife and children are bound to make mistakes or get you angry, or even disappoint you, you must be very watchful of the words that come out of your mouth. Never use ungraceful words on them because your words are seeds that could distort their glorious destinies. But how do I restrain myself from misusing the spirit of my mouth and reorder it after righteousness. Firstly, you must guard the things you hear, watch or read. This is because the totality of your life and conduct is formed from what you see, hear and watch. And this is why the Scripture admonishes us to guard our hearts diligently, for out of it are the issues of life. Secondly, you must plead the blood of Jesus Christ over your life regularly. Through the blood of Jesus Christ, your heart and tongue become sanctified unto righteousness. Thirdly, you engage the twin weapon of prayer and fasting. David the husband of Abigail prayed to God for help concerning the thoughts of his heart and words of his mouth. Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me (Ps.51:10). Fourthly, meditate on the word of God. You must work with the Person of the Holy Spirit to help you keep the word of God in your heart. A lot of the times, we gloss over the word of God hence it loses its power to speak right words thereby affecting ability to function as leaders in our homes negatively.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, heal my mouth of wrong words.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the temptation of wrong speaking.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, order the thoughts of my heart and the words of my mouth aright.

FAITH CONFESSION:

The words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart are ordered rightly by the power of the Holy Spirit because that is my assurance of victory as the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
