Main Scriptures: Genesis 13:13-15

More Scriptures: Job 28:10, Jer.1:11, 2 Cor.2:10

And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, lift up now thine eyes and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward and westward (Gen.13:14).

I don’t know what that issue is that you have with your wife, your children or even in your family. I also don’t know how much you think you have been cheated by your flock. It doesn’t matter how much pain you feel when you consider how your flock have disappointed you and thrown the trust that you have for them into the trash. The Spirit of the Lord is saying to you today “Lift Up Your Eyes and See Ahead”. He says when you lift up your eyes to Jesus Christ; you don’t see any wrong but all good about your wife and children.

In Gen.13:14, the Scriptures relate to us about a husband who had challenges with his nephew, Lot. Abraham took in Lot after his father died. Abraham tutored Lot in business to the extent that Lot became successful. Abraham invested his time, energy and resources to empower his nephew. Sadly, Lot betrayed Abraham. He began to compete with Abraham. To solve the problem, Abraham offered Lot the first right of refusal to choose from the vast pasture. Lot took the greener places up to Jordan and left Abraham with nothing significant, even though it was Abraham that made him rich. Despite this unfair action by Lot, God commanded Abraham to look up from where he was, perhaps to start again with him.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to take my attention away from the wrongs of my flock.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to forgive my wife and children and others.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, destroy the power of bitterness and hatred in my life.

FATHER CONFESSION

I look above and beyond the faults of my wife and children just as Abraham did because that is what makes me a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
