SADDLE STITCHES (1)

Let me begin by thanking the Person of the Holy Spirit for His help. Day after day, He keeps teaching me about husbands from the things around. And I am eternally grateful for having Him as my Teacher and inspiration. I actually saw the words saddle stitches for the first time in a new dimension and suddenly He began to teach me. Now, what is a saddle stitch? A saddle stitch is a stitch or a wire staple passed through the fold of a magazine or booklet. It helps to hold the booklet or magazine together and gives it fitting. That is who you are as a husband. You are like a saddle stitch. Your presence in the lives of your wife and children is ordained to bind them together and not scatter. You are a channel through which God wants to pass through to demonstrate the fatherhood nature of Christ to your flock. The same way the pages of booklets or magazines cannot get their fitting and firmness if there is no saddle stitch, so also it is with your sheepfold. It cannot be bonded and properly fitted if you don’t make yourself available to be a saddle stitch.

You are like a potter and your wife and children are like clay. You help to give them form and shape- giving meaning to their lives. You have been empowered by God to mold them into a people of honour and dignity. In Eph.5:25, the Scripture commands you to love your wife as Christ loves the Church and gave Himself to it. So, God has given you a wife in the form of a clay so that you can diligently work around her and make her a vessel of honour (Prov.31:10). And you are able to stitch her by treating her according to the knowledge of the portrait that God has made her. Husband deal with thy wife according to knowledge that your prayers may not be hindered (1Pet.3:7).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from spiritual complacency.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, reveal Your road map of my wife and children to me.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to deliver on Your plans for my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am a saddle stitch sent by God to bind my wife and children in the love of Christ because that is what makes me a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
