I believe that today’s teaching is for a husband who is going through very difficult times in his business. The message in today’s devotional is to assure you that even in these hard times, you will prosper in everything that you do. Your labour shall not be in vain and you shall eat the fruit of your labour. It is true that as the head of the family, the demands of your office is enormous. It is also true that as the leader in your home, so many people need your attention-your wife, children, extended family members, church, work, your personal vision, your spiritual life, and much more. And to a large extent you need finances to be able to meet the demands. This is why Jesus assured you by His word that you are ordained to prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers (3Jn.2). From the beginning of creation, you were ordained to live a life of abundance (Gen.2:14-17).
So, what must I do in times of famine as the husband and head of my family? Sow! And there was famine in the land….and the Lord appeared unto him…then Isaac sowed in that land and received in the same year an hundredfold and the Lord blessed him (Gen.26:1, 2,12). Giving remains the way to be blessed when it seems all doors are locked. You don’t lose everything when you give rather you gain everything. There was famine in the land. Businesses shut down and many others relocated to other places. But Isaac did not. God showed up and told him what to do. He obeyed even when it did not make any sense. He sowed in the midst of scarcity. As a husband, you may not have enough to eat, drink or wear. You may not even have sufficient finances in your account. Don’t look at your present financial situation. Look at the big picture God has for you concerning your finances and trigger the reality in your life by sowing your financial seeds. Give to God; give to support the work of His kingdom on the earth; give to the poor in your environment, and be a smiling voice in the lives of humanity.
