In the last two days the Holy Spirit has been teaching us husbands the essence of our existence as the spiritual heads of our families. He taught us as heads of our families what it means to be in Christ Jesus and what it takes to remain in Christ without losing out in the original plan God for us as the leaders of our homes. Today as we conclude, let us consider the benefits that you get when you are in Christ as the head of the family. The Bible says that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. And one of the things that trigger your willingness to submit your body, soul and spirit to the absolute will of God is when you have the fear of God. When as the head of the family, you fear the Lord and reverence Him, you will not want to physically, emotionally and mentally abuse your wife or children. Infact, you will not do things that are against His instructions. The result therefore is that you will operate in divine wisdom. This kind of wisdom is not the one that comes from man, charms or the world but the one that comes from the Lord. The fear of God will empower you to operate in such kind of wisdom that will help you to fulfill your obligations to your sheep, lead them in the way of the Lord and be in command.
A lot of the times husbands are not in charge of their sheep and sheepfold because they don’t have in them the God kind of wisdom. So, they are confused and helpless in the face of challenges or trials. Jesus said something very striking which I want every husband to hold onto tirelessly. He said, I will give you a mouth and a wisdom that none of your adversary shall be able to resist or gainsay. There is way you will talk to your wife and children even in the midst of unfriendly situation that will not only make them respect you, but it will make them want to follow willingly. Another benefit you get when you are in Christ is that you enjoy peace and quietness at home-between you and your wife and your children and the society you live in. In 1Tim.2:2, the Scriptures say we may lead a peaceable and quiet life. In 1Chro.4:40, the Word of God says that the land was wide, and quiet and peaceable. God does not want your home to be in disarray. Rather, He wants you and your children to live in peace and harmony. Finally, when you are in Christ Jesus, you enjoy divine protection from every form of wickedness, including the deceitfulness from strange women who have laid landmines for you to step on. In Ps.91:1 the word of God tells us that he that dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. So, do all you can and be willing to yield your all to Jesus Christ.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to totally yield my will, emotion decision to all Your instructions.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from a rebellious spirit.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, make my life a living example to my wife and children.
FAITH CONFESSION
I yield my will, emotion, spirit to Your will and ways because I want to become the good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
