Main Scripture: Lk.6:38
More Scriptures: Gen.8:22, Gen.18:19, Ruth 4:13
Give, and it will be given to you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you (Lk.6:38).
The sixth chapter of Luke Gospel and verse thirty-eight (38) is a very popular verse of Scriptures. It is a familiar passage of the Bible that is most often used during offering in fellowships, churches and Christian gathering. But on this particular day, the Person of the Holy Spirit gave me another revelation and dimension to the verse of the Bible. It opened my eyes to see how it relates to the godly demands of the husband. Now, the Scripture in Luke 6:38 talks about the principle of sowing and reaping. It says, “give”. So, the question that you must ask yourself is this, “what have I given to my wife and children and what am I giving to them?”. Secondly, what is the measure of what I am giving or about to give to my flock?”.
As the head of the family and the one whom God has chosen to be in front and lead your flock, you must understand that whatever you receive from your wife and children is in direct proportion of what you have invested in them. If your wife and children honour you so highly that you feel like a king, it is because you first gave them honour in large measure. If your wife and children demonstrate a high level of loyalty to you, it is because you have sown loyalty to them. You did not leave them when they needed you most. You did not betray them. If your sheep shows you so much respect to the extent that they are ready to do anything to protect you, it is because you have sown respect to them by not speaking down on them or destroying their self-confidence. You must appreciate that as long as you are in this world and the world has not come to an end, the law of planting and harvesting shall not cease. While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease (Gen.8:22).
You must also understand that God has created you to be a seed-bearing agent (Gen.2:5, Gen.4:1, Ruth.4:13). God has deposited inside you godly seeds of kindness, honour, faithfulness, patience, goodwill, protection, respect, and much more. And because your wife and children are like spaces in a farmland, you must make efforts to keep sowing, keep giving, not in small measures but in big measures, irrespective of their behavior. So, as a husband, you will be fooling yourself to think that your wife will respect you or your children will honour you if you have not sown the right seeds into their lives. Becoming a husband is hard work. It is not and will never be cheap. For you to grow in your calling as the godly husbandman you must deliberately invest the virtues of Jesus Christ into your sheep and reap the rewards afterwards.
