COVENANT DEMANDS OF A GOOD SHEPHERD (3)

Spread the love

Main Scripture: Ezk.34:14-16

More Scriptures: Lk.22:32, Is.11:11, Jer.15:21

I will feed them in a good pasture and upon the high mountains of Israel shall their fold be, there shall they lie in good fold, and in a fat pasture shall they feed upon the mountains of Israel. I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord. I will seek that which was lost and bring again that which was lost and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken and will strengthen that which was sick, but I will destroy the fat and the strong. I will feed them with judgment. Ezk.34:14-16.

Today by the grace of God, we are in part three (3) of our teaching on the covenant demands of every godly husbandman. I pray in the name of Jesus that the light of God shall shine through the pages of this teaching to impact your life positively. Let us consider other covenant demands of your headship as the godly husbandman and shepherd of your flock. As a shepherd, you are to seek what is lost in the lives of your wife and children and fill it. You are in their lives to fill the gaps that they may have created by error of commission or omission. In Gen.25:20-21, Isaac filled the gap of barrenness in the life of his wife, Rebeccah. In Gen.24:1-4, Abraham filled the gap of marital emptiness in the life of his soon, Isaac. Jesus filled the gap of self-condemnation in the life of the woman who was caught in the very act of adultery (Jn.8:10-11). You also have the great task to mend every brokenness your wife and children may be going through. Your flock may have been broken emotionally from abuses or the pressures of work or school. They may have been broken down from disappointments from friends that they had trusted. Whatever brokenness they may be encountering, you have a covenant responsibility to mend their broken hearts, minds and bodies. Furthermore, you have a covenant responsibility to strengthen your flock when they are sick physically and mentally. Jesus speaking to His flock, the disciples that were obviously discouraged, said, when I sent you, did you lack anything? And they responded by saying, we lacked nothing.  When Simon Peter seemed to be weak in faith and fearful of an unsure future, Jesus said to him, but I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not, and when thou art converted, strengthen they brethren (Lk.22:32). When your wife or child is sick, you have the power to lay your hands on them and restore their health. God has given you authority and power to trample upon snakes and scorpions and over every power of the enemy. Sickness is your enemy. So, if you find it around your flock, chase it out.  When your flock seems weak, you are to cheer them up both by your words and your actions. It is and will always continue to be a great honour to be a good and godly husband to God, your wife, children and the world. You are never wrong being the REAL HUSBAND.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to restore and recover everything missing in the lives of my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to unite sheep in love.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to strengthen my sheep on all sides.

FAITH CONFESSION

I have decided to seek, recover, unite and strengthen my wife and children because that is what makes me a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
