Main Scriptures: Eph.5:22-28
More Scriptures: Mal.2:14, Eph.5:22, 1Cor.13:7
Yesterday, the Person of the Holy Spirit helped us to understood that we are not just men, we are godly men indeed. And this new identity is what gives validity to your position as the good shepherd in your sheepfold. Furthermore, that your manhood is not just a function of what is between your legs but in the demonstration of the power of God in every area of life where satan and his agents have shown up. You have the gene of dominion in you. When God made you from the beginning in Genesis chapter 1 and verses 26 and 28, He put in you the seed of authority to act as He would on earth. So, it is up to you and I to exercise it over sickness, disease, poverty, untimely death, near success syndrome, barrenness, waste, poor academic performance of your children, and much more. Today, the second stand is husbandhood. In this, God has established the measurements of how you should deal with your wife. It is very important for you to know who your wife is. According to Scripture, your wife is not a slave neither is she a piece of furniture. She is not another woman, who needs a man. Your wife is not another woman who wants to fill a space in your life. She is a certification of beauty and excellence of God’s creation and she is wonderfully and fearfully made. She is a covenant partner with you, sealed by God Almighty. Yet ye say, wherefore? Because the Lord hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth…….yet is she thy companion, and the WIFE OF THY COVENANT. (Mal.2:14).
If you understand that your wife is your covenant partner that God sent to you, you will not treat her with disrespect or treacherously. In 1Pet.3:7, the Bible describes her as an heir with you of the grace of God at work in your life. So, for this reason, you must love your wife as Jesus has loved the church and gave Himself. Husbands, love your wives even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it (Eph.5:25). When you love your wife, you are actually doing yourself a favour and obeying the commandments of God, Who made you the head of your family. So, ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. HE THAT LOVES HIS WIFE LOVES HIMSELF (Eph.5:28). If you love your wife, you actually love yourself. But how do I demonstrate Christ love to my wife? As the lover of your wife, you must extend these virtues to her. Love is PATIENT, love is KIND, love does not BOASTFUL or PROUD. Love is not RUDE or SELFISH. Love is not easily ANGERED and does not KEEP RECORDS OF WRONG (1Cor.13:4-5). What other way do you show love to your wife? You love your wife by always protecting her, always trusting her, always hoping for the best for her, and always persevering despite her shortcomings (1Cor.13:7). Love is not in words only but in action.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to sow the love seed into the life of my wife consistently and faithfully.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the stronghold of bitterness and hatred I have toward my wife.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, cleanse my heart from every evil thought I have against my wife.
FAITH CONFESSION
I love my wife with the love of Christ both in words and in deed because that is what makes me the good and godly husband to her in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
