I want to acknowledge the teacher who taught on this subject at our Lunch Hour Bible Study, the Bible study arm of the Mission. And I personally commit to recognize him. To God alone be all the glory. In the next few days, by the help of the Holy Spirit, I will be sharing with you the correlation between your wife and the earth. I shall be looking at some of the characteristics of the earth and how understanding it would help you relate with your wife the way God wants you to. So, I want you to sit back and enjoy the banquet.
Do you know that your wife is like the earth? In case you are not sure, let us consider the features of the earth and relate it with who your wife is. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing upon the earth (Gen.1:26). The earth is designed by God to be fruitful. The earth receives seeds and after some time, it brings forth fruits. Some of the fruits take a shorter time after planting while some take a much longer time. Notwithstanding the time of harvest, it is what you sow into the earth that bears fruits. So it is with your wife. God did not create the earth to run away from anybody, so is your wife. She is not created to leave you. She has been given to you by God as the wife of your youth and your covenant partner (Mal.2:14). The earth will not give its fullness if it is not cultivated, so is your wife (Eph.5:25-26). You will not get the fullness of your wife’s respect, honour, dignity, meekness, forgiveness, hopefulness, kindness if you do not cultivate her. You are like the farmer who has a farmland. The farmland will not yield its increase because you are the owner. In fact, it will not make much difference if you plant the seed and refuse to cultivate and prune it. The same way a farmer has an expectation from the earth, so also you have an expectation from your wife. The harvest from the earth is similar to the things you want to see come to you from your wife. From this illustration, you can see that your wife and the earth share similar characteristics, hence the same way the earth will respond to the farmer is the same way your wife will respond to you. It is only a foolish farmer who does not plant on the earth and yet expects to harvest. As the spiritual head of your wife and children and their first pastor, God has made you a farmer and placed you over them. There are hidden harvests in their lives. And God has given you a platform to access these good and godly harvests.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me a wise farmer.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me how to plant godly seeds into my wife and children.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to watch over the seeds I have planted into my sheep.
FAITH CONFESSION
I take responsibility to act like the good farmer and I plant good and godly seeds into my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus Name. Amen.
